MINOR GROUP 213: COMPUTING PROFESSIONALS
 


    Computing professionals conduct research, plan, develop and improve computer based information systems, software and related concepts, develop principles and operational methods as well as maintain data dictionary and management systems of databases to ensure integrity and security of data.

    Tasks performed usually include: conducting research into the theoretical aspects of and operational methods for the use of computers, such as computer architecture and design, data structures and databases, algorithms, artificial intelligence, computer languages, data communication and robotics: evaluating, planning and designing hardware and software configurations for specific applications; designing, writing, testing and maintaining computer programs; preparing scientific papers and technical reports, documentation and manuals. Supervision of other workers may be included.

    Occupations in this minor group are classified into the following unit groups:
