Legal Database on Industrial Relations (IRLex)

The ILO’s Legal Database on Industrial Relations (IRLex) provides accessible summaries and legal texts on industrial relations across the ILO member States. It covers seven thematic areas:

    - Regulatory framework

    - Organisations and their administration

    - Legislative protection of workers' and employers' organizations, their members and representatives

    - Tripartite social dialogue

    - Information and consultation procedures at the workplace

    - Collective bargaining

    - Labour disputes and their resolution.

Employment Protection Legislation Database (EPLex)

The EPLex database contains legal information on the regulation of temporary contracts and employment termination at the initiative of the employer. It covers over fifty elements of employment protection, grouped under nine themes. The information is based on regulation at the national level.

Industrial Relations Data (IRData)

The Industrial Relations Data (IRData) includes a compilation of data collected annually, and covers three key elements of industrial relations:

    - trade union density

    - collective bargaining coverage

    - work stoppages

A methodological framework for collecting and computing statistics on trade union density and collective bargaining (2013) was discussed by the 19th International Conference of Labour Statisticians.

Database of Conditions of Work and Employment Laws

Working Time - Minimum Wages - Maternity Protection

The INWORK Database of Conditions of Work and Employment Laws provides a picture of the regulatory environment of working time, minimum wages and maternity protection in more than 100 countries around the world. It contains comprehensive legal information, which allows you to conduct customized research on a specific country, to compare the legislation of several countries or regions on a particular subject or to perform searches by text. For selected issues, a historical comparison is possible.

The Database is currently undergoing a periodic update. The exact date of the most recent update is indicated for each country.

ILO Global Wage Database

Data underlying the Global Wage Report are accessible at:

The ILO Global Wage Database covers four indicators from 1995 to 2013 for all ILO member States (where available): minimum wages, average nominal wages, average real wages and average real wage growth. In previous years, the data underlying the Global Wage Report included many additional indicators (e.g. low pay, wage inequality by decile, wages by sex, etc.). However, since the publication of the Global Wage Report 2012/13, the compilation of these indicators has been transferred to the “Yearly indicators” collection of ILOSTAT at:
