Objectives of the Skills Fair
The Skills Virtual Fair aims to identify innovative solutions, through South-South and triangular cooperation, for specific skills development challenges, now exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The expected outcome of this initiative is to establish partnerships between participants, as well as peer learning opportunities, related to the following aspects of skills development and lifelong learning:- Quality apprenticeships,
- Skills need anticipation,
- Digital skills & digital transformation
- Skills in Agriculture
This chosen format will allow participants to engage with other experts and creates the possibility to network around the thematics of the forum.
Participants
Tripartite constituents and relevant stakeholders from 34 countries from the Global South are invited to participate.Participants:
- will have the opportunity to attend panel discussions on selected topics
- will be invited to present good practices and some will be supported to design and host virtual booths
- will be invited to identify other institutions to negotiate and discuss partnership opportunities, facilitated by the ILO.
Concretely, participants to the online virtual fair will have the possibility to:
- Be welcomed at the virtual info desk where all information about the conference will be provided;
- Go to the exhibit hall where different on-line exhibition booths present projects, organisations, or institutions;
- Participate to discussions in the auditorium where participants can view live webinars, pre-recorded videos and semi-live sessions;
- Receive a virtual bag in which they can record all the on-line resources and share business cards (vCards) with other participants in the networking lounge or the partner pavilion:
- Access a live help-desk in case of technical issues.

Background
A series of webinars were held in 2020 focussed on Skills Development thematic areas and on sectoral approaches. During these webinars, participants identified SSTC priorities for the development of:
- Quality apprenticeships,
- Skills need anticipation (focus on Skills for trade and economic diversification), and
- Digital skills & digital transformation
- Skills training in specific sectors
