Printing engravers and etchers engrave lithographic stones
and printing plates, rollers, dies and blocks by various
processes.
Tasks include -
(a) cutting designs through film applied to surface of
lithographic stones;
(b) engraving steel and copper plates, rollers, dies or wood,
rubber and linoleum blocks by hand;
(c) engraving metal plates and rollers by machine;
(d) transferring designs from lithographic stone to metal
plates;
(e) performing all or several tasks in preparing printing plates
by photogravure process;
(f) etching metal plates or rollers with acid and retouching;
(g) performing related tasks;
(h) supervising other workers.
