MINOR GROUP 732: POTTERS, GLASS-MAKERS AND RELATED TRADES WORKERS
 


    Potters, glass-makers and related trades workers make bricks, tiles, pottery, porcelain ware and glassware, engrave and etch designs on glass articles, and paint or decorate glass, ceramics and related articles and signs.

    Tasks performed usually include: making abrasive wheels, pottery, porcelain ware, bricks and tiles; making glassware; engraving and etching designs on glass articles; decorating glass and ceramic articles; applying decorative coatings of paint and similar materials to various articles, or applying letters and designs to signs. Supervision of other workers may be included.

    Occupations in this minor group are classified into the following unit groups:

    7321 Abrasive wheel formers, potters and related workers

    7322 Glass-makers, cutters, grinders and finishers

    7323 Glass engravers and etchers

    7324 Glass, ceramics and related decorative painters

    Note

    Occupations are classified into Major group 8, Plant and machine operators and assemblers, if the tasks call mainly for experience with and an understanding of the machinery operated and monitored.

    Occupations are classified into Major group 9, Elementary occupations, if the tasks are of a simple and routine nature, mainly entail the use of hand-held tools, some physical effort, little or no previous experience and understanding of the work, and limited initiative or judgement.
