Machine-tool setters and setter-operators set for operators,
or set and operate, various machine tools working to fine
tolerances.
Tasks include -
(a) setting one or more types of machine tools for operators to
produce metal articles in standardised series;
(b) setting and operating a variety of machine tools;
(c) setting and operating particular types of metalworking
machines, such as lathe, milling, planing, boring, drilling,
grinding or honing machines, including multipurpose
numerically controlled metalworking machines;
(d) performing similar tasks when machining plastics and other
metal substitutes;
(e) performing related tasks;
(f) supervising other workers.
