Agronomy and forestry technicians perform technical tasks
connected with research in agronomy and forestry, as well as
with the development of agricultural and forestry applications
of research results.
Tasks include -
(a) preparing materials and equipment for experiments, tests
and analyses;
(b) collecting and preparing specimens such as plant or animal
cells, tissues or parts or animal organs for experiments,
tests and analyses;
(c) assisting with and performing experiments, tests and
analyses in their field of specialisation;
(d) analysing samples of seeds for quality, purity and
germination rating;
(e) collecting data and estimating quantities and costs of
materials and labour required for projects;
(f) applying knowledge of scientific principles and practices
in order to identify and solve problems arising in the
course of their work;
(g) organising maintenance and repairs of research equipment;
(h) performing related tasks;
(i) supervising other workers.
