Senior officials of special-interest organisations
determine, formulate and direct the implementation of policies
of special-interest organisations, such as political-party
organisations, trade unions, employers' organisations, trade and
industry associations, humanitarian or charity organisations, or
sports associations, and represent their organisations and act
on their behalf.
Tasks performed usually include: determining and
formulating the policies, rules and regulations of the
organisation; negotiating on behalf of the organisation, its
members and relevant special-interest groups; promoting the
interests of the organisation, its members and relevant
special-interest groups before the legislature, government or
general public; planning, organising and directing sections
charged with implementing the organisation's policies, rules and
regulations. Supervision of other workers may be included.
Occupations in this minor group are classified into the
following unit groups:
1141 Senior officials of political-party organisations
1142 Senior officials of employers, workers' and other
economic-interest organisations
1143 Senior officials of humanitarian and other
special-interest organisations
Note
Senior officials of special-interest organisations who
manage a business enterprise owned or controlled by a special-
interest organisation, or perform tasks similar to those of 122,
Production and operations department managers, or 123, Other
department managers, are classified into Sub-major group 12,
Corporate managers (See note at beginning of Major group 1) or
13, General managers (see note at beginning of Major group 1)
as appropriate.
