Standard-Setting Committee on Apprenticeships

General information

This Committee will undertake the second discussion on Apprenticeships with a view to setting a new international labour standard in the form of a Recommendation. The proposed text to be considered is included in Report IV(2) below.

It met from Monday 5 June to Tuesday 13 June in Room XIX at the Palais des Nations, according to its tentative plan of work (see ILC.111/CN/D.1 below).

Consideration and adoption of the Recommendation concerning quality apprenticeships by the Conference

The presentation of the Recommendation to the Conference for adoption will take place in a plenary sitting on Thursday, 15 June, from 6 to 7.30 p.m.

The vote on the adoption of the Recommendation will remain open until 10 a.m. on Friday, 16 June.
The results of the vote will be announced in a plenary sitting on Friday, 16 June from 10.45 to 11.30 a.m.

All request to take floor in any of the two sittings should be sent using this form to the secretariat (cn-apprenticeships@ilo.org) by 7 p.m on Wednesday 14 June.

    Quality apprenticeships

    This report contains: (i) a summary of the observations made by governments and by employers’ and workers’ organizations about the proposed text published in Report IV(1) after the first discussion on this matter that took place during the 110th Session (2022) of the International Labour Conference; and (ii) the text of the proposed Quality Apprenticeships Recommendation that was prepared taking into account those observations and will be the basis for the discussion at the 111th Session of the Conference.

    The present report contains the proposed Recommendation prepared on the basis of the text adopted by the Conference at its 110th Session. Pursuant to article 46(6) of the Standing Orders of the Conference, Governments are invited to communicate to the Office at the earliest opportunity, and in any case not later than 14 November 2022, any amendments or comments they might have, after consulting the most representative organizations of employers and workers. The comments received will be reflected in the report that will be prepared by the Office for the consideration of the Conference at its 111th Session (2023).
