A Rights-based Approach to Counter Labor Trafficking – U.S. and German Experiences

The conference will provide a forum for U.S. and German experts to explore how government and civil society can cooperate to assist labor trafficking victims.

Trafficking for labor exploitation purposes has been the subject of attention in the U.S. for some time and is increasingly a concern in Germany. A new initiative, the “Berlin Alliance against Human Trafficking into Labor Exploitation”, which involves the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Berlin, the International Labor Organization (ILO), the German Association of Trade Unions, and the Berlin State Department for Labor and Social Affairs, seeks to raise awareness of the topic and is developing and implementing a comprehensive approach against labor trafficking. The conference will provide a forum for U.S. and German experts to explore how government and civil society can cooperate to assist labor trafficking victims.
