Fair Recruitment Initiative for Africa

Date issued: 09 March 2023 |

In March 2022, the ILO Regional Office for Africa in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the International Organization of Employers (IOE) officially launched the ILO Fair Recruitment Initiative (FRI) in Africa.

The four pillars of the Global FRI guide the priorities on fair recruitment within and from Africa; and the formulation of the Fair Recruitment strategy for Africa, led by The African Union Commission, with technical assistance from ILO.

The ILO’s work on Fair Recruitment in Africa is to ensure that recruitment practices nationally and across borders are grounded in labour standards, developed through social dialogue, and ensure gender equality.
