    Non-standard employment is not spread evenly across the labour market. Women are more likely to be employed in non-standard jobs, especially in part-time jobs, as compared to men.

    The average unemployment rate reached 8.1 per cent, according to the annual report. There are 25 million people who are looking for work without success. The quality of employment has also deteriorated because of an increase in informality and self-employment. The impact on young people is of particular concern.

    Today there is greater variation in the labour market, with many workers in part-time, on-call, or temporary employment, in employment arrangements with multiple employers, or in disguised employment or dependent self-employment. The ILO refers to these arrangements as “non-standard forms of employment”.
