42nd Regular Meeting of The UN Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE)

The 42nd UNTFSSE meeting was held virtually on 7 March 2023. It brought together around 30 participants from seven member (ILO, UNRISD, ECLAC, UNDP, UNDESA, UNCTAD and OECD) and eleven observer organizations (Catalyst2030, CIRIEC, CSEND, EMES, EURICSE, DIESIS, GSEF, Euclid Network, ICA, SSE International Forum, RIPESS).

“Spotlight Interviews with Co-operators” is a series of interviews with co-operators from around the world with whom ILO officials have crossed paths in the course of their work on cooperatives and the wider social and solidarity economy (SSE). On this occasion, ILO interviewed Akkanut Wantanasombut, researcher at the Institute of Asia Studies at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and founder of “Tamsang-Tamsong”, a community-based social and solidarity economy platform.

The ILO co-organized and participated in a session on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals through the social and solidarity economy (SSE) with UN ESCAP and Asian Solidarity Economy Council (ASEC). The session took place on December 14, 2022 as part of UN ESCAP’s Business Innovation for the SDGs Forum.

ILO co-hosts the “Decent Work and the Social and Solidarity Economy” Seminar, a pre-event of the Japan Society for International Development (JASID)

The SSE Research Group of the Japan Society for International Development (JASID), Solidaridad Japan, and ILO Office for Japan, held an event titled the "Decent Work and the Social Solidarity Economy (SSE)" on 2 December 2022. About 100 academics, co-operators, government officials and trade unionists attended the event at the JTUC-RENGO Hall, prior to the Japan Society for International Development (JASID) 33rd National Conference, which provided English-Japanese simultaneous interpretation, remotely as well as in person.
