    ILO COOP meets with the African Union delegation to discuss collaboration on cooperatives and the wider social and solidarity economy

    The meeting took place on March 15, 2023 at the ILO Headquarters in Geneva with the participation of ILO Cooperatives Unit and African Union Commission representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment Department and Labour Employment and Migration Division.

    42nd Regular Meeting of The UN Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE)

    The 42nd UNTFSSE meeting was held virtually on 7 March 2023. It brought together around 30 participants from seven member (ILO, UNRISD, ECLAC, UNDP, UNDESA, UNCTAD and OECD) and eleven observer organizations (Catalyst2030, CIRIEC, CSEND, EMES, EURICSE, DIESIS, GSEF, Euclid Network, ICA, SSE International Forum, RIPESS).

    FORTER'ESS: Strengthening the resilience of women's social and solidarity economy organisations (SSEOs) affected by COVID-19

    This two-year project provides support to women led SSE organizations in the governorates of Beja, Jendouba and Le Kef. This support focuses on improving workplace protection and working conditions for women entrepreneurs and workers in women led SSEs to counteract the social, economic and health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. FORTER'ESS will also contribute to the establishment of an inclusive and equitable social and solidarity economy (SSE) ecosystem in Tunisia, which encourages the increased participation of women in the sector.

    “Spotlight Interviews with Co-operators” is a series of interviews with co-operators from around the world with whom ILO officials have crossed paths in the course of their work on cooperatives and the wider social and solidarity economy (SSE). On this occasion, ILO interviewed Ms Lorraine Ndlovu, President of the Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations (ZCIEA), President of StreetNet International and a board member of Women in Informal Economy Globalizing Organizing (WIEGO).

    Due Diligence training to eliminate child labour in Uganda

    Through the training, participants were able to reflect on the specific challenges that they face and learned how to use different practical tools to implement in practice the different steps in a child labour due diligence process by which companies identify, prevent, manage and account for the negative impact occurring in their operations or value chains.
