To mark the World Day against Child Labour, the ILO launched its new training package “The role of cooperatives in Eliminating Child Labour” (facilitator guide to train field trainers and facilitator guide to train direct beneficiaries) during a webinar organized jointly with the International Cooperative Alliance. The main objective of the tool is to raise awareness of management, staff and members of agricultural cooperatives about child labour so that they are able to decide on and implement a set of actions that will contribute to the prevention and elimination of child labour within the cooperative’s and members’ operations as well as in their communities.

The tool, which is a product of the fruitful collaboration between ILO FUNDAMENTALS Branch and the COOP Unit and funded by the ILO’s project “Addressing Decent Work Deficits in the Tobacco Sector of Tanzania and Zambia” was pilot tested in Arusha Tanzania in March 2020. The training package is composed of: a Facilitator guide to train field trainers and a Facilitator Guide to train management, staff and members of agricultural cooperatives.
