Support the development of industrial relations, wage fixing and labour law implementation in Vietnam

Following the adoption of a new Labour Code and Trade Union Law in 2012, the Project's overall objective is to support the implementation of these laws and enhance the compliance of regulations and practices with international labour standards.

In particular, the project seeks to assist the reform of the minimum wage system in the country, support industrial relations institutions and mechanisms in improving collective bargaining and social dialogue, and strengthen the capacity of stakeholders. In doing so, the Project will pilot initiatives which aim at promoting the use of genuine and effective collective bargaining and social dialogue, improving trade union capacities to effectively and democratically represent workers, and building the capacities of employers' organisations. At the same time, the Project will support the government in improving industrial relations services, including longer term provincial planning on industrial relations and piloting of more effective coordination and management of mediation services, and labour market analysis.
