Formalization of labour markets - an ILO perspective

This presentation gives an overview of the signficance of the formal economy and proposes several ways to address informality which is increasing in many countries. The informal economy is more prevalent in developing countries but exists in all regions. Globally, informal employment is a greater source of employment for men than for women. In developing countries, this proportion is reversed.
