Thriving Youth – From Ageism to Intergenerational Solidarity

A virtual side event on ageism and youth organized by UN DESA, WHO, ILO and the Major Group on Children and Youth during the 60th Commission for Social Development.

Have you heard of ageism? What does it mean to you? Do you think it affects young people? Why is it important to talk about ageism against youth? How can we address ageism and foster solidarity among generations? If these questions are of interest to you, please join us for a virtual side event on ageism and youth organized by UN DESA, WHO, ILO and the Major Group on Children and Youth (MGCY).

Speakers of all ages will discuss the nature and magnitude of ageism, its determinants and its impact. Key findings from the Global Report on Ageism will be presented and a discussion on strategies to address ageism will be offered. This virtual side event will take place on Monday, 14 February from 8:30 am to 9:45 am EST on the margins of the 60th Commission for Social Development.

Please send your full name, role and organization/Member State you represent, as well any question you may have to Myelani Mpofu, UN DESA, at myelani.mpofu@un.org. Only registered participants will receive the Zoom link for the side event.
