Parts I and II of the Convention. The Government indicates in its report that there has been no change in the application of the provisions of the Convention. The Committee notes that, according to information available to the ILO Department of Statistics, the main source of statistics on wages and hours of work is an establishment survey conducted on an annual basis by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMS). This survey covers all establishments of ten or more workers in the whole country and all economic activities, except for public administration, compulsory social security, activities of households as employers and activities of extraterritorial organizations. Statistics on working time and earnings of employees are regularly submitted to the ILO Department of Statistics via its annual questionnaire on labour statistics. In addition, statistics on working time and average earnings, disaggregated by sex and economic activity (compiled separately for mining, manufacturing and construction), are regularly submitted to the ILO Department of Statistics. The Committee requests that the Government continue to provide information on any developments regarding the application of the Convention.
Revision of Convention No. 63. In reply to previous comments, the Government indicates that all recommendations resulting from a 2007 workshop held in collaboration with the ILO with a view to promoting the ratification of the Labour Statistics Convention, 1985 (No. 160), are currently being implemented. The Committee notes that the compilation and dissemination of labour statistics in Egypt complies, for the most part, with the requirements of Convention No. 160. The Committee therefore requests that the Government examine, in consultation with the social partners, the possibility of ratifying the Labour Statistics Convention, 1985 (No. 160), which would entail the automatic denunciation of Convention No. 63. The Committee also wishes to draw the Government’s attention to the fact that ILO technical assistance is available in this respect.
