The Committee notes that the Government’s report has not been received. It hopes that the next report will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous comments.
Repetition
Article 1 of the Convention. Scope of application. The Committee notes the Government’s information that there are at present no ships registered in Jersey engaged in the transport of cargo or passengers for the purpose of trade, and therefore there is no need for specific legislation giving effect to the provisions of the Convention. The Committee takes this opportunity to recall that Convention No. 69 is revised by the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006). Minimum standards on the training and qualifications of ships’ cooks are now incorporated in Regulation 3.2(3), Standard A3.2(3), (4), (6) and (8), and Guideline B3.2.2 of the MLC, 2006. The Committee requests the Government to provide information of a general nature regarding the type of ships currently registered in Jersey and the number of ships’ cooks serving on these ships.
