Legislation. The Committee welcomes the detailed information provided by the Government in its report concerning the legislation giving effect to most of the provisions of the Convention. It notes the information from the Government’s report that the term “lifting appliance” does not at present exist in the Italian legal order, although it is to be found in the UNI-ISO 4306 technical standards of 2010. According to the Government, the definition provided in the abovementioned UNI-ISO document forms part of a draft amendment to annex VIII of Legislative Decree No. 81/2008. The Committee also notes that, according to the Government, annexes V, VI and VII of the Legislative Decree No. 81/2008 give effect to Articles 27, 28 and 30 of the Convention. The Committee requests the Government to keep the Office informed of any developments in the amendment of annex VIII of Legislative Decree No. 81/2008, and to provide a copy of the amended legislation once adopted. It also requests the Government to indicate the specific provisions of annexes V, VI and VII of Legislative Decree No. 81/2008 giving effect to Articles 27, 28 and 30 of the Convention, if possible in one of the ILO’s working languages.
Part V of the report form. Application in practice. The Committee notes that the Government provides brief information on the number of accidents reported in 2007–11 in respect of loading, unloading and porterage operations in docks and on ships. It indicates that it will provide the requested data on the number and nature of the contraventions reported by labour inspectorates and the resulting action taken as soon as they are available. The Committee invites the Government to provide the information requested in its next report, including a general appreciation of the manner in which the Convention is applied in practice, and relevant extracts from the reports of the inspection services.
