With reference to its general observation of 2007 relating to modern methods of handling cargo, and particularly containers, the Committee notes the Government’s indications that, although Panama is not a signatory to the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC 72), it applies many of its parameters set out in other international Conventions such as the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974, with particular reference to Chapter VI on carriage of cargoes and Chapter VII on carriage of dangerous goods. The Committee requests the Government to continue providing any relevant information concerning the present Convention.
