The Committee notes that the Government’s report has not been received. It hopes that a report will be supplied for examination by the Committee at its next session and that it will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous direct request, which read as follows:

The Committee notes the Government’s report. It asks the Government to provide further information on the following points:

Article 7 of the Convention. The Committee notes the Government’s indication under Article 9, paragraph 1, regarding the revisions made in 1999 to the quarterly establishment survey on employment and wages. The Committee asks the Government whether paid employment data derived from this survey are also available. If so, the Committee asks the Government to send these data to the ILO (in accordance with Article 5).

Article 9, paragraph 1. The Committee notes that the establishment survey providing quarterly statistics of earnings and hours paid for was redesigned in 1999 and its scope extended. It asks the Government: (i) to publish the results in national publications and to communicate them to the ILO as soon as it is feasible (in accordance with Article 5); and (ii) to publish the corresponding methodological information and to communicate it to the ILO (in accordance with Article 6).

The Committee also asks the Government to publish and to communicate to the ILO the results of the 1997 Survey of Structure of Agricultural Holdings as soon as practicable (in accordance with Article 5) and to publish and communicate to the ILO the relevant methodological information (in accordance with Article 6).

Article 9, paragraph 2. The Committee notes that, in the future, statistics of time rates of wages and normal hours of work by occupation or branch of economic activity might be derived from the new Structure of Earnings Survey or from the Labour Cost Index. It asks the Government to keep the ILO informed of any future developments in this field.

Article 10. The Committee notes that the European Community Structure of Earnings Survey provides data on the composition of earnings and hours of work and on the distribution of employees according to levels of earnings and hours of work, according to various characteristics. The Committee asks the Government to communicate to the ILO the results of this survey (Article 5) and the relevant methodology (Article 6), as mentioned in the report.

Article 11. The Committee asks the Government to publish and communicate to the ILO the detailed descriptions of the sources, concepts, definition and methodology used in collecting and compiling statistics of labour cost (in absolute figures and in the form of the labour cost index), in accordance with Article 6.

Article 13. The Committee asks the Government to send to the ILO the publications containing the methodological descriptions and results from the 1994-95 household budget survey and the 1996 household income and living conditions survey.

Article 14. The Committee notes that no information is provided in reply to the following points raised in the previous direct requests: (i) up-to-date data with respect to fatal accidents (or persons fatally injured), the number of workdays lost from work accidents and the numbers of persons insured with the IKA (social security institution), classified by branch of economic activity; (ii) information on the compilation of statistics of occupational diseases; (iii) more precise information on the standards followed in accordance with Article 2; and (iv) information on consultation with employers’ and workers’ representatives under Article 3. The Committee hopes that the Government will provide this information in its next report. It also asks the Government to provide details regarding the publication of methodological information by the competent national body (Article 6).

Article 15. The Committee notes that statistics have been received in the ILO and that the Government intends to supply the ILO with methodological information.
