Allegations

The complainants allege that the Government refused to register the Migrants’ Trade Union (MTU) and carried out a targeted crackdown on this union by successively arresting its Presidents Anwar Hossain, Kajiman Khapung, and Toran Limbu, VicePresidents Raj Kumar Gurung (Raju) and Abdus Sabur and General Secretary Abul Basher Moniruzzaman (Masum), and subsequently deporting many of them. The complainants add that this has taken place against a background of generalized discrimination against migrant workers geared to create a low-wage labour force that is easy to exploit.
