Public sector. The Committee notes the various training activities conducted in several institutions of public administration as well as the participation of the Commission on Equal Opportunities and Treatment (CIOT) in various international activities related to gender equality. The Committee asks the Government to provide information on specific measures taken to promote greater representation of women in the ministries and public entities in which women are under-represented and in executive positions in public administration, and to provide statistical information in this regard.
Private sector. The Committee notes that according to the Coordination on Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities in Employment (CEGIOT), the sharp increase in the participation of women in training programmes has not translated into greater participation in the labour market, which is influenced by gender stereotypes, relegating women into the service sector, administrative and domestic work. It notes that to address this situation CEGIOT developed the New Skills Programme for Women which promotes the training of women in non-traditional occupations, such as management of road machinery, small engine repair, masonry and plumbing. The Committee asks the Government to provide information on the impact in practice of the New Skills Programme for Women, as well as any other measures taken to eliminate gender stereotypes in society. Regarding the pilot programme on the certification of gender equality employers, MEGA 2009, which the Committee noted in its previous comments, the Committee notes that it has been replaced by the Programme “Network of Non-Governmental entities” and asks the Government to provide additional information on the manner in which the certified enterprises implement the principle of equal remuneration for men and women for work of equal value in practice.
