The Committee notes the observations of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) received on 1 September 2015.
The Committee also notes that the Government’s report has not been received. It hopes that the next report will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous comments.
The Committee recalls that in its previous direct request it noted that a comprehensive legislation on freedom of association was being prepared, designed to unify all existing legislation on the matter in one single act, and to further implement relevant ILO Conventions and Recommendations, as well as the Caribbean Community Model Law on the Recognition, Status and Registration of Trade Unions.
The Committee notes that the Government indicates in its report that a draft law designed to unify all existing legislation on freedom of association in one single act was already presented to social partners and relevant stakeholders in March 2012 during a two-day National Seminar on Modernization of Labour Legislation; once the recommendations have been processed, the draft law would be sent to the Council of Ministers and ultimately to the National Assembly. The Committee notes the Government’s commitment to send a copy of the law once adopted. The Committee requests the Government to provide any further information on any development with respect to this legislative process and to send a copy of the legislation once it is adopted.
