The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) in collaboration with the International Organization (ILO) organized a training on collective bargaining for trades union members from different sectors, including the rubber industry on 9 March 2023 in Shah Alam, Selangor.

During the training, the trade union members engaged in interactive discussions on key issues such as dialogue mechanisms, collective bargaining process, and clauses in collective agreements. The one-day training was enriched with an experience-sharing session on collective agreements.

The training, attended by 30 participants, aligned the context of the discussion to the international labour standards and national laws. The Malaysian Trades Union Congress welcomed the training aimed to increase the capacity of trades union leaders and members in the promotion of freedom of association and collective bargaining in Malaysia.

The training is part of the implementation partnership “Strengthened capacity of trade unions in the rubber gloves supply chain in Malaysia” of the Sustainable Supply Chains to Build Forward Better (SSCBFB) project, a joint initiative by the European Commission (EC) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) which aims to promote decent work in global supply chains.
